14th Seattle Festival of Free Improvisation
Friday-Saturday, July 23-24
On The Boards Studio Theater, 100 West Roy
9 pm, $8
Now in its 14th year, the Seattle Festival of Free Improvisation is the longest-running event devoted entirely to freely improvised music in North America. This year's festival will focus on Northwest musicians who regularly pursue the practice of free improvisation, plus special guest percussionist Toshi Makihara, a key figure in the Philadelphia improvised and experimental music community. The festival will also present a large-scale guided improvisation in COBRA, a game-strategy piece for improvisers developed by John Zorn.
