Now in its 21st year, the Seattle Improvised Music Festival will be held February 8-12, 2006 at Gallery 1412.
The longest running festival of its kind in North America, SIMF is an annual meeting place for improvisers at the forefront of Improvised Music in North America, as well as visiting improvisers from around the world.
This year's festival features representatives of Improvised Music communities in Boston, Los Angeles, Portland, NYC, Oakland, Vancouver BC, and of course Seattle, as well as esteemed visitors from Lisbon, Portugal.
The 2006 festival will feature showcased performances from these visiting musicians and ensembles. SIMF ’06 will also feature collaborative sets performed by different first-time-ever combinations of these
improvisers.

Housing & Volunteers Needed for SIMF:
We're in urgent need of housing for out-of-town SIMF performers. If you
have a comfortable place you can offer, please let us know. Dates are
approximately 2/7 to 2/13. Your reward, in addition to our gratitude, will
be a pass to all SIMF performances for you + guest.
The Festival also needs other volunteers. People to drive performers
to/from the airport and, during the Festival, between the Gallery and
places they're staying. We also need a couple of folks at each night's show
to help at the door. Of course, volunteering gives you free entrance to one
or more shows during the Festival depending on what you do.
