the 25th Anniversary SEATTLE IMPROVISED MUSIC FESTIVAL

2010 marks the 25th Anniversary of the Seattle Improvised Music Festival (SIMF) with two consecutive weekends in February. SIMF is an annual meeting place for improvisers at the forefront of the music from around the world. This year, the festival will include performers from Germany, Argentina, Switzerland, NYC, New England, Chicago, Pennsylvania, Vancouver, Portland, and of course, Seattle.
Guided and organized by Gust Burns since 2001, the 2010 SIMF will also include special evenings curated by musicians/ former organizors Wally Shoup and Paul Hoskin. It is only fitting that Hoskin, the founder of the Festival, is back in Seattle to help organize the 25th anniversary Festival.

Curator Paul Hoskin purposefully presents an evening of music where the artists share aural memories of improvisation. Yet, the immediacy of improvisation is the constant, if not the given.
